Petrol's vision for 2022 commits us to integrate energy, trade, mobility and advanced services into an excellent user experience as an important regional provider of comprehensive and sustainable solutions. With innovativeness, digital solutions, cost-effectiveness and partnerships, we intend to develop successful business models. We incorporate sustainable principles into our development strategy and have a positive influence on the economic, environmental and social environment by our way of operation.

Sustainable challenges
As one of the key energy companies in Slovenia and SE Europe, the Petrol Group has taken an active role in increasing energy independence, energy efficiency and the share of renewable energy sources in the markets included in our operation.
We are responding to sustainable challenges with a range of ambitious and development-oriented programs.
In the long term, we ensure optimum use of energy for end users. We sell "negawatt" according to the model of contractual provision of energy savings. We offer comprehensive energy solutions in buildings, for industry and home.
The transition to a circular economy is recognized as an opportunity for new business models, greater material efficiency and the opening of new green jobs, of course, with the reduction of the environmental footprint.

Smart cities - MUMESCo business concept
Not only from the energy point of view but also from the point of view of managing all natural resources, cities represent the central sustainable focus of the Petrol Group. Our long-term strategy, followed by our investment policy, is the development of integrated infrastructure services in several areas of living in cities for the purpose of transition of the latter to sustainable, smart cities. This represents the basis of the unique Petrol MUMESCo Business Concept (Multy Utility, Mobility and Environmental Service Company).

District heating
We have established ourselves as partners in the smart, energy-efficient management of cities and urban areas. With district heating systems, we offer local communities efficient management of existing systems or the construction of new energy-efficient district heating systems. The strategic goal is to increase the production of heat for the purposes of heating from renewable sources and in combination with cogenerations by additional 60 GWh or by doubling the existing volume.

Natural gas
In the field of heating, we accelerate the transition of end users to the use of natural gas by introducing new technologies. The medium-term objective is to accelerate the transition to the use of natural gas as a transitional energy source in a low-carbon society within existing networks. With the introduction of modern technologies, we increase the energy efficiency of end users by at least 15 to 20%.

Electricity
Electricity is becoming the central source of energy in all segments of consumption therefore we are intensively focused on the production of green electricity. Strategically, production will be based on the exploitation of the wind and water energy potential and will represent three quarters of the total Petrol electricity production by 2020. By 2020, the production volume of more than 250 GWh is envisaged which will account for approximately 20% of total sales to end users.

Energy utilization of waste
Energy use of organic waste and water cycle management round off our comprehensive offer of management of urban areas and cities. By doing so, we enable our partners to exploit their own potential, by which they achieve a greater degree of energy independence.

E-mobility
The Petrol Group strategically promotes gas as an alternative fuel for transport, as well as e-mobility within the new business models.
In order to achieve the strategic goals of sustainable development, the Petrol Group will employ 470 experts in the field of energy and the environment in its organization by 2020. In order to achieve these goals, we will invest over EUR 200 million, of which more than 50% will be spent on the production of electricity from RES, while the rest will be used for energy-efficient services, investments that will increase the use of LPG, development of the use of natural gas, investments in efficient heating on district heating systems and investments in environmental solutions.

We incorporate sustainable principles into our development strategy and exert a positive impact on the economic, environmental and social environment by our way of operation.
